“Last September in the north of the UK we heard of a fur and feather auction happening in a dirty little pub. In fur and feather auctions, backyard breeders with zero regulations auction ‘pet’ animals to the highest bidder, or sell them in their stalls. It truly is a grim environment, with animals in tiny cages, pregnant guinea pigs and rabbits and no oversight whatsoever.
We had a free evening, so we decided to pay them a little visit. Hanging around in the car park we worked out what vehicles belonged to the breeders, and whilst one of them was offloading into the pub, we made a run for it, grabbed a cage and left before they came back.
Inside of that cage we found two diamond doves looking terrified, with their feet so caked in shit that we thought it could actually be a fungal infection. Luckily, after a lot of gentle cleaning, their feet started to look better, and with a lot of quiet and calm, they started looking more comfortable and happy every day.
Fuck pet breeders. And fuck auctioning living beings.
