A QUICK FEBRUARY UPDATE

In the month of February we’ve received a total of 21 reports of direct action for animal liberation, many of them claimed by the Animal Liberation Front, some claimed by anarchists. A big majority of the reports were sabotage actions, specially directed at hunting towers. Australia also provided an oldie but a goldie, putting bricks through windows that contained very specific messages for Jacinta Allan, a politician responsible for the murder of wild birds in Victoria.

Switch Off! and Scenes did report lots of earth liberation direct actions, and specifically after Jack was sent to jail Scenes received some very encouraging reports. We’d like to quote a short excerpt of one of them: “We are not special. Our skills are not overly technical or advanced, and our tools are simple to acquire. If you are reading this, you are capable of doing what we do. We all have something to lose; it is simply a matter of living out our beliefs or submitting to the police state. Inaction is a choice just as much as action, and we all have to live with the choices we make.“

In the prisoner support corner, as we mentioned before, Jack was added to the prisoner support list, but we also heard that Victor had been released after eleven months of kidnapping, which was extremely heartwarming! We also added Sindre to the prisoner support list, so please write to him today! Lastly it is worth mentioning that Leonard Peltier has a fundraiser for medical expenses and that Jessica is in segregation. As soon as we hear she’s out, we will of course let everybody know. For now, please keep writing letters to as many prisoners as possible.

On the events section, Take Concrete Action anounced the dates for their mass action this summer. Why not plan a trip to sweden?

DATE ANNOUNCED FOR MASS ACTION AGAINST THE FOREST INDUSTRY IN SWEDEN: 15-19 JUNE

This summer the network Take Concrete Action is going for the forestry capital. A mass direct action will take place in Gävle, in so called Sweden, 15-19 June.

THE ROJAVA REVOLUTION IN FIRST PERSON

“For years I had heard all these stories about Rojava – great stories of resistance, heartbreaking stories of comrades falling Sehid (martyr), being remembered through tears, laughter and action, and of difficulties. It had always caught my attention; this place, so far away from our reality. A place where I don’t need to fear the police raiding my house, but instead fear the bombs and drones Turkey sends over. The hope that shines in people’s eyes when they talk about Rojava and the fact that many of my beliefs are being put into practice there, was also something that had always caught my attention.

Now, I am here, living many of the things I had only heard about previously. In just the short time I have been here, Turkey has assassinated several comrades, including two YPJ commanders who were part of the famous resistance against ISIS in Kobane. They were wounded there and had been living in a house for comrades wounded in war. Yet, there is silence from the so-called democratic western states admit such clear war crimes. Only days later, I went to a march demanding the freedom for Abdullah Öcalan; we were thousands marching together through the city. And most beautifully, the same wounded friends who survived the attacks only days before were leading the march, showing the spirit of “no pasaran! Em nacim! You will not get through and we will not leave!”.

The revolutionary spirit cannot be denied here, whether it is in the streets talking to people, visiting families who have been part of the Kurdish movement for decades or spending time together with the small team of internationalists who have traveled a long way to get to know the Rojava Revolution.

So, I will try to write a small regular update on Rojava, the developments here, and how I connect it to the broader anarchist and liberationist political movement that we are all part of.”

GREAT NEWS! VICTOR IS FREE!

After 11 months kidnapped by the state, Victor Puertas, an indigenous forest defender arrested during a festival in Cop City, has been released. He spent three months in DeKalb County jail without bail and then he was transferred to an ICE facility where he was held for another 8 months.

Now that he is free, he could do with some economic help to help him with medical, living and jail recovery expenses, as well as with legal fees to fight the domestic terrorism and RICO charges he is facing.

UNKNOWN ACTIVISTS TARGET A HUNTING TOWER WITH FIRE AFTER A TWO YEAR LONG STRING OF SABOTAGE.

10th February, Bavaria Germany.

According to local media, a hunter in Ansbach has faced continuous sabotage for the past two years. A year ago he fell from a tower that had been sawn and put together again, breaking his hand. The latest attack was fire, and the hunter found his tower burnt to the ground. He estimates the latest attack to have costed him around 1400 EUR. The police say they have no clues as to who the culprits are.

In the early hours of January 31, several activists have entered the facilities of a farm in the province of Soria, in the Spanish state, to protest against the genocide of animals and the impact of livestock farming on climate change and the criminalization of the climate and antispeciesist movement.

The activists have left several banners and have stained with red paint the facilities of this farm, which has recently been awarded by the goverment for its “environmental effort”.

THE ALF TARGETS MAX MARA DURING FASHION WEEK.

THE ALF VISITS JACINTA ALLAN’S OFFICE (AGAIN) IN DEFENCE OF THE NATIVE WATERBIRDS AND IN SOLIDARITY WITH PALESTINE.

“Last year the state of Victoria in so-called Australia held a public inquiry into duck shooting. The results of that inquiry saw a recommendation to ban duck shooting in Victoria given a majority vote for the ban. On the 29/01/2024, Jacinta Allan went against her own party’s recommendation and has allowed this cowardice “sport” to go ahead. Following the decision, Jacinta Allan went into hiding and has not yet made a statement. Just some little info on Jacinta, she personally supports duck shooting and her husband Yorick Piper, has been seen in photographs with Field and Game representatives.

Fortunately, Jacinta Allan cannot hide from the A.L.F and we are here to show her AGAIN just what happens when you let personal factors influence political decisions that go against the people’s wishes. Two weeks ago, we visited Jacinta Allen’s office with bricks – now we have returned with hammers, spray cans and more determination!

This time it’s personal. Hunters and their political affiliates will continue to be hunted. We will see your pals on the wetlands.

The Labour government that Jacinta represents has not only sentenced native waterbirds to death but is also complicit in the ongoing genocide in Palestine. They continue to supply Israel with arms to carry out their vile acts. This action was taken for the native waterbirds but also for the lives that have been displaced and taken by the IDF. From the river to the sea.

We acknowledge that this action took place on the land of the Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung people. We stand in solidarity with First Nations people in their fight against colonialism.

HELP SAVE LEONARD PELTIERS EYESIGHT

Leonard Peltier is a political prisoner who has been incarcerated for 48 years. 

Leonard is 79 years old and the prison is neglecting his health. Leonard is in need of immediate medical treatment for the loss of his eyesight.

”Leonard Peltier has recently experienced a significant loss of vision which has required him to implore the help of fellow inmates to do basic things like dialing phone numbers for him to make calls, help type emails, and even help assist him getting around, as he cannot see well enough to walk on his own…”
