responsible for policies to increase hunting activity, the consumption of animal products and the opposition to the transition to plant food, which with the support of the right-wing government is increasing its oppressive power over non-human animals.
These actions want to bring attention to the fact that the oppressors are ramified in society at multiple levels, but they are also places and natural persons who physically exercise their power every day in our cities, towns, streets, and who must be hit by returning to direct action as a fundamental practice of the antispeciesist fight”
Mel Broughton has been locked up in prison for months now awaiting court. He would love to hear from you, so writing a short letter would be fantastic.
Two years ago, we published a short video where Mel explained how important it is to receive letters in prison. Today, you can again watch that video and use it as a call to action to write to Mel.
Make him part of the outside world, he loves nature, plants, animals and fungi, so there is much to talk about!
Someone from his support team told us quite a cute story about him. Mel Broughton is as grassroots as anyone can be. He might jump into campaigning and fight corporations, but he also works to rehabilitate wildlife on a regular basis.
Once, a crow became a bit too tame. One of their favourite pastimes was perching on Mel’s ankles and untying his shoelaces. The crow really enjoyed being an amusing pain in the ass. One time, whilst Mel was away, the crow found that grabbing one side of the toilet roll and flying around the house would let them redecorate the whole flat! Imagine the clean-up afterwards!
This is something we have heard second-hand, but we can promise you that Mel is full of great stories. Reach out and ask him how he is doing, bring him a little bit of the outside world with your words and show solidarity.
Mel does not want to discuss his case publicly, so please don’t do so, and do not write anything illegal. Assume that all letters sent to Mel are being monitored.
To write to Mel, please address the letters to:
Mel Broughton A3892AE
HMP Peterborough
Saville Rd

His support team has sent us a short list of books that Mel would like to receive so we will purchase them for him. This means that instead of receiving random books from many different folks, he can get exactly what he’d like to read. Please consider dropping a few coins to help with the costs. You can donate over PayPal, but remember to do it via friends and family and add a note reading “Mel’s Books”
Submitting hit reports is one of Unoffensive Animal’s cornerstones. We believe that those taking direct action and wishing to share their actions with the public should do so anonymously and safely.
We have created a page on our website where folks can simply introduce their text and click on “encrypt and submit”, but to use this feature, people need to think of their own anonymity. Using the TOR Browser *should* keep the sender more anonymous.
Another important aspect to think about is to avoid giving personal information in the report. Understand that we are not going to edit reports, and they will simply be copied and published, so do not tell us who you are or how old you are or what your address is. We don’t care, we don’t want to know and you should not put us in a position where we need to lie to protect the anonymity of activists.
In terms of media, photos and videos are very useful for a hit report. You must take care to clean the media before sending it. This is twofold. Firstly, ensure that the footage does not have identifiers. If it shows a tattoo or identifiable clothing or even background that could be used to prosecute you, you need to sort that out. Secondly, you need to remove metadata from the media before sending it. This is very easy. Simply use one of the tools recommended here: https://www.privacyguides.org/en/data-redaction
Once you’ve checked it over, upload that media to any bullshit data transfer service (like ufile.io) and copy the link, you can paste it with your text before sending.
If you do not wish to use the website feature, you are very welcome to send an email to unoffensivereports (at) protonmail(dot)com but please use common sense. Use a throwaway email address from a spam address like an anonymouse email. Creating a “report-specific” email address is NOT good enough. You shouldn’t use the same email address twice to send reports.

In a society of constant production and waste, one that pushes consumption, but always attached to a hefty price tag, dumpster diving can be a fun activity and a lifeline. Much like shoplifting but sometimes dirtier and often less risky, dumpster diving can let you access things otherwise out of reach behind a paywall.
So much food and materials are thrown away and with just a bit of bin diving you could be walking away with some sweet treasure and nifty supplies.
Become at one with the racoon’s.
First things first locate the bins. What do you need? Food? Furniture? Electronics? Go to where they sell these things and most likely that’ll be where they throw them away too. Have a walk about and see if you can locate the bins and asses how accessible they are. If the bins a close maybe take 5 mins to stop by everyday so you can see what get thrown out when. Remember that unless you’re rudely interrupted by angry staff then don’t leave the bins in more of a mess than you found them. Put what you don’t want back in the bin once you’re done.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED *maybe
Bags- for your wanted finds.
Bolt cutters- if the bin you want is a padlock away.
High vis jacket- if you want to look like you belong anywhere/everywhere.
Torch- pretty obvious.
Four way utility key- most commercial bins are easily unlocked using a four way utility key that you can order online for cheap or grab from your local hardware store.
The best way to get started is to just start looking for and in the bins near you but if you want some more tips and guidance YouTube is full of videos made by dumpster divers and crimethic have a write up about it in their book ‘recipes for disaster’ which is available for free in PDF.
Happy diving!
PS: You’ll often find a lot of rat traps around commercial bins, do what you will with that piece of info
According to the press, on the 12th of March RWE woke up to an 80-meter-high electricity pylon fallen. The pylon, critical infrastructure for the mine, provides electricity for their lignite coal extraction operation, so they had to shut down two of the four power circuits. Upon investigation it was found that the pylon had been tampered with, screws had been loosen up and parts of the metal leg sawn, possibly months in advance. The strong wings would’ve then torn the legs, making it quite literally “nature defending itself”!
This is not the first time that RWE receives attacks on electricity pylons, as the critical infrastructure is a target difficult to guard that at the same time is completely necessary for their coal mining operations. In 2016, another electricity pylon was sown off and allowed to fall in their Inden mine. The same year, the overground electricity cables supplying power to the coal conveyor belt in Hambacher Forest were set on fire, leaving a sparky light show in the open hole for most of the night.
We have updated our prisoner support list to include addresses for the Atlanta Forest Defenders currently in prison. A vast majority of them are locked up at a jail that only allows for USPS pre stamped postcards, which makes difficult ending letters from outside of the USA. We have uploaded a list with a separation between those prisoners who can receive plain paper letters and those who can only receive postcards, so please chose a couple of folks to write to and send them warmth and love.
Everybody on that list has charges under Domestic Terrorism, a clear tactic by the institutions to scare and quiet down the resistance against the complete destruction of the Atlanta Forest to build a mock city for cops to practice how to kill people on the streets. The level of corruption is tangible, with the judge’s partner being involved within the main funding body for the Atlanta Police Foundation. The defendants need as much love and support as you possibly can send them, so write to them, maybe tell them about a recent walk in the woods that you think they’d like to hear!
Please don’t discuss any topics related to their case, and don’t include anything that could seem illegal. Understand that all mail is monitored (even more when defendants are facing terrorism charges), and keep it light, writing about good news or experiences!
If you want to support them financially, Atlanta Solidarity Fund is managing cases, bail and legal support, you can donate here:
According to local media, on the 19th of March at around 4am unknown activists blew up a hunting tower in Wegberg-Rödgen. Witnesses heard a very loud bang and reported to authorities who are investigating but have no leads on the identity of the perpetrators.
PalAction is ramping up their attacks aimed at dismantling British complicity in Israeli apartheid.
A year after two PalAction actionists shut down Leicester’s weapons factory Elbit, the group is mobilising for another siege of the factory, starting from May 1st. You can join them at UAV TACTICAL SYSTEMS, Meridian Business Park, Leicester, LE19 1WZ, UK.
According to PalAction, Elbit’s factory in Leicester exported £5million worth of military equipment to Israel in one year. In preparation for the action, PalAction is running a series of talks and workshops on “How to shut Elbit down”. Upcoming in person talks are on 8th April in Newcastle and 9th of April in Bedford. You can also join an online talk, for more info visit their website. The group announces that “the mass action will include hundreds staying put for weeks on end, through day and night, refusing to leave until Elbit does”. Check out palestineaction.org/siege for more info.
Leicester’s Elbit factory has been targeted by PalAction several times before, with the biggest occupation having taken place in May 2021 during Israeli aggression in Jerusalem and Gaza. The siege of the factory by four activists lasted 6 days, with the fire service refusing to intervene and with a huge turnout of community support.
A trial took place early March against three actionists who shut down the factory of APPH in Runcorn two years ago. APPH supplies drone parts to Elbit Systems. One activist was acquitted, while two others plead guilty and will appear for sentencing in Chester Crown Court on Friday, 5th May, possibly facing time in prison.
Several PalAction activists face trial from Monday 27th March for three weeks for shutting down Arconic, a supplier of flammable cladding and parts for Israeli fighter jets. Their case is joined with other actionists arrested in Walsall for possessing items to commit “criminal damage”. PalAction is calling for support in their trials every day from 9.30AM at Wolverhampton Crown Court, WV1 3LQ.
So once again: Join PalAction from the 1st of May in Leicester, LE19 1WZ, and shut Elbit down for good!
“Last Sunday someone redecorated the facade of the GI Partners building (4 Embarcadero Ctr) in San Francisco using a fire extinguisher filled with green paint. Fuck with the forest and the forest will fuck with you.”
EDITOR’S NOTE: In late January, GI Partners acquired Atlas Technical, a major player in the destruction of the Atlanta Forest.
Coldiretti is one of the major responsable of the hunting policy and the fight of boars and other wild animals.
Also involved in all meat productions”
EDITOR’S NOTE: Coldiretti is the main Italian farming association lobbying the government. They run many campaigns, and lately they have been very focused on the ban on “synthetic meat”. Italian press has given a lot of coverage to the paint job, and Coldiretti has said that they “can’t let the ‘turbo-environmentalists’ win”.
