“We heard the stays were lifted and construction on the Mountain Valley Pipeline has resumed. I wonder if they’ve noticed some issues with their machines? As they continue to work, bleach eats further and further into their engines. By now, the damage should be done.
Protest alone is not enough. Despite years of Appalachia residents saying they do not want this pipeline-in the courts, through protest, by nonviolent direct action like locking to machines-the project is being pushed through anyways. Join us to stop this pipeline while we still can!”
International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners 23 – 30 August 2023
It’s time again to remember and honour those who can’t be with us. Friends, fellow anarchist, animal liberationists and anti fascists. All those who are fighting governments, animal abusers, fascists, for a better life, and being held captive by the state.
During the coming week there are several ways to show solidarity with prisoners. Write letters, drop a banner, do graffiti, write a zine, record a podcast, or throw a loud party outside your local prison. Let our friends behind bars know that we have not forgotten them. Let the world know that we will never give up fighting against the bastards who put them behind bars, those who are destroying the world.
You can find more and relevant information about the solidarity week, list of prisoners, at the web site: https://solidarity.international/
According to local press, a hunter’s vehicle was vandalised during Sunday 20th of August in Lleida, Catalunya. Windscreen wipers were broken off, side mirrors smashed or broken and the windscreen window was also smashed.
The activists left graffiti on the vehicle reading “Killing for the pleasure of killing” to send a message to the hunter.
The pro-hunt lobby is calling the action a “hate crime” and is asking for tougher action by the police, as it seems this is not the first time hunters have been at the receiving end of direct action.
Epona Rose is a woman of trans experience who was attacked on the street in Kinlani/ Flagstaff, Arizone by a group of men while two or more watched. The men were drunk and sexually harrassing her, the attack escalated into threats of rape and then physical violence when they realized she was transgender.
Epona defended herself bravely against this attack and did not call the police. She was targeted when cops arrived and they arrested her.
She is currently being held on the men’s side of the Coconino County Jail in segregation with one hour a day out of her cell, where she has struggled to gain access to her prescribed medications.
Current bond is set for $500,000 but the support team is fiercely working to overturn such an excessive amount and the outrageous charges.
The longer Epona is in jail, the much more at risk she is exposed to as a trans woman& abolitionist.
We cannot let Epona be made an example out of demanding the basic rights of genderqueer, third gender, Two Spirit, and/or trans people to exist!
“In the year of a state of emergency, I’m still alive… I defended myself against three men. They classified me as male in here. I don’t feel safe around other men”- Epona

22nd of July marked the International Day of Action for Prisoners which demanded the release of the 6 currently incarcerated Palestine Action actionists. The group states: “As our campaign has intensified over the years, so has the state’s response to us. There are six actionists currently inside British jails, and over 100 more who may face prison. From denying some actionists the right to legal defences, to refusing bail and introducing new case law, the state is doing everything it can to try and stop us. But whilst Palestine remains occupied, and the Israeli military remains weaponised by arms made in Britain, we will not stop until our targets are shut down.”
For a continuous support against the legal actions faced by PalAction actionists, the network is asking for folks to get involved in Defendant Support to support more than 100 Palestine actionists who face trial for taking direct action to dismantle the production of Israeli weapons on British soil. The following support is needed: Arrestee Support at a police station, Mentoring Support for those awaiting trial or sentencing, Court Support (solidarity from the public gallery or outside, e.g. flag waving, leafleting, talking to the public), and Letter Writing to those detained. If you want to help, get in touch with PalAction through this link: tinyurl.com/ffphp2fr
Among others, the trial against three actionists who disrupted the production of Israeli drone engines took place, with a verdict being given on 7th September. In support of the actionists, PalAction is calling for folks to mobilise from 9.30AM on 7th September at Walsall Magistrates Court, WS2 8HA as the verdict is delivered.
Meanwhile, the siege of Leicester’s Israeli weapons factory Elbit has reached 100 days with the actionists still standing strong. So far, this action has disrupted Elbit’s work and blocked its gates.
Within the last month, the siege was strengthened by further action. An autonomous underground cell has sent a drone to land on the roof of Leicester’s Israeli weapons factory with a special package. PalAction states that “the military drone makers get a taste of their own warfare”. Also, PalAction recently blocked the sewage pipes of Elbit using concrete, leaving Elbit clueless to the reasons behind the blockage. PalAction explains that this is an innovative way to respond to “the Israeli military launched air strikes and ground raids against Jenin refugee camp, murdering 13 Palestinians and displaced thousands more”. If you want to join the siege, PalAction is asking to bring a sleeping bag and head down to UAV Tactical Systems, LE19 1TP.

“a few nights ago we visited olsen fur farm (smieja) at w22875 state road 121 in independence wisconsin. it’s operational for now, but maybe releasing several hundred mink has a chance to close it for good. we hope many of the mink enjoy their freedom in the wild and that this farm will be unable to breed thousands upon thousands of them in future years. they have an opportunity now to cut their losses and leave the fur industry forever.
fur farms exist only for fashion and profit. though the industry has declined significantly in the past decade, hundreds of thousands of animals are bred and murdered for their fur every year. even if these minks lives in the wild are cut short by nature or human intervention, the farm would have undoubtedly slaughtered them all. there is real joy in bearing witness to these animals getting their first taste of freedom. we hope this action inspires others to take similar action for animals near them. with a little planning and a few cheap tools, you too can liberate hundreds of creatures in a few short hours. until all cages are empty, for humans and non human animals alike. free them ALL”
“Spina Verde Park Authority in Como has declared war on wild boars by placing trap cages for the poor animals, which, once caught, are mercilessly killed.
Well, we also declare war towards anyone who abuses, rapes and slaughters innocent animals blamelessly. We will destroy all your instruments of death.
Animal Liberation Front “
ITALIAN:
“Parco Spina Verde, Como (Italia). Anche l’ Ente Parco Spina Verde di Como ha dichiarato guerra ai cinghiali posizionando gabbie trappola per i poveri animali che, una volta catturati, vengono ammazzati senza pieta’. Bene, la guerra la dichiariamo anche noi verso chiunque abusa, violenta e massacra animali innocenti senza colpe. Distruggeremo tutti i vostri strumenti di morte. Animal Liberation Front “
In 2021, Jessica Reznicek was sentenced to eight years in prison. August 11, 2023, she has served two of those years. Jessica is incarcerated at FCI Waseca.
Jessica was sentenced to prison for taking action to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016, including direct action by dismantling construction equipment and pipeline valves. Due to the court classifying Jessica as a domestic terrorist, her prison sentence was significantly extended.
Jessica is 40 years old. On their website, her support crew describes Jessica as follows: “Jessica has a deep love for nature, camping, swimming, hiking, theology, music, gardening, laughter and eco-sustainability, as well as a commitment to self-discovery through deep relationships cultivated in intentional faith-based community living.”
Right now there is a campaign going on with the aim of Jessica not being classified as a domestic terrorist, which would mean that her time in prison would be greatly shortened (by roughly halving the prison sentence).
There are several ways to support Jessica, like writing her letters.
More information about Jessica, how to support and show solidarity, as well signing the campaign, can be found on the website: http://supportjessicareznicek.com
(Jessica’s support crew can also be found on Facebook and Twitter, where information about Jessica’s case is continuously updated)
The situation is this: there is a slaughterhouse blockade. One of your aims is creating as much media as possible, and give updates on a regular basis. You want to use social media so many people can see photos or take secondary action during the blockade (like calling the press, or pestering the business via email!).
Locking on (or even just being the “press contact”) at an action whilst connecting a smartphone to the social media of your group is a sure way to give away A LOT of information to the cops when they decide to arrest you. Certainly, as we previously have discussed, you should not carry your personal phone, but if you must take a smartphone to a demo to take photos or videos and update social media, we should really avoid risking the log in credentials or the identity of comrades to an arresting cop.
So how do we communicate, share updates and photos, whilst keeping people safe? Here is an idea that could work for you!
Consider first communications. In one hand, you might want to keep in touch with someone you just met at a demo, but you sure do not want to give them your phone number!!! That would be a huge privacy concern! On the other hand, if you need to communicate with folks away from the action, keeping their numbers saved in a device that could (or will) be arrested is handing over the details of your friends to the enemy.
How do we avoid that? We use an encrypted messaging app that does not need to use telephone number to log in. Good bye Signal, hello Session! Session or Briar do not need you to give a telephone number to register an account. We would advice to use Session just because Briar is p2p (see our “let’s get encrypted” series on our website) and depending on the connectivity, messages or images might not get through. Session will allow you to keep in touch with someone you just met but you might not trust, but it will also allow you to communicate with friends without having their telephone numbers saved into a phone that might get nicked.
Now, instead of you logging in to socials whilst locked on or whilst outside the gates of the slaughterhouse, let’s organise a third party to manage social media. They can have a Session account where you send photos, videos, urgent calls for action or updates, and from the comfort of a cafe in the next city over, they can update social media for you. They then can pass on important information too if someone sends intel to the social accounts, or if somebody sends words of encouragement. Depending on the workload, that same person can be a press contact for the group (using a different device!).
Once the action is over, all burner smartphones should also be destroyed, including the one used for social media. The filth really likes to throw conspiracy charges to journalists, so why risk it?!
TO SUM IT UP:
Don’t take your personal phone if you know you’re being arrested, or if there is a good chance that you will.
Use an encrypted messaging app that does not need telephone numbers, like Session.
Don’t log in to socials whilst in the demo, blockade or action.
Pass on information to someone else away from the action for them to spread the word.
Treat the devices used during the action (including the social media phone) as burners. Don’t turn them on near your home, and destroy them after the action is over!

Looking for a new hobby? You’ve tried rock tumbling and crochet but nothing really scratches the itch? Let us tell you about glass etching!
Etching glass is a fantastic hobby where you grab glass (like a window or a cup!) and you permanently mark it with a frosty and translucent decoration. You can etch using a stencil, or you can freehand if you want!
Etching fluid is sold either as a cream or as a liquid, and it normally is made from hydrofluoric acid. For that reason, you should be incredibly careful handling it and wear all the necessary PPI, like mask and gloves! Both forms of etching materials are easy to find in hobby stores. If you end up with cream etching fluid, you can dilute it, but remember that then the frosty look will be lessened.
Now, let’s get to work! Folks recommend many different tools to start your hobby, but we find that the cheapest are always the best options. Grab a shoe polish bottle with a sponge tip and make sure you clean it thoroughly, getting rid of all the paint. Once that is done, you can fill it up with your fluid (or with your diluted etching cream) and seal it shut. Put the shoe polish bottle in a little plastic bag so you avoid any leakages.
Choose a window in your house that you really don’t mind getting ruined. Some companies are able to buff etching fluid off the window, but it’s expensive, and sometimes the only way you can clean your own mess up is to change the window completely.
You can now use a stencil you’ve previously cut and use a thicker, more cream-like etching fluid to dab all over it, or you could simply freehand whatever drawing or message you want to permanently mark on your window! At first, it might look like water, but after a while the glass will be frosty and beautiful, allowing you to send a message to all the neighbourhood.
Please be responsible and only etch your own windows. Remember that it is permanent, so don’t cover the whole windscreen of your car with it if you have an important delivery to do tomorrow!
So there you have it, if rock tumbling is just too loud and Robert next door keeps calling the council with noise complaints, consider trying glass etching!
