SINDRE, A SWEDISH ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVIST, LOCKED UP INDEFINITELY.

Sindre is an animal rights activist, 21 years old, from so-called Sweden. Sindre is a kind and respected comrade in the animal rights community, who has fought against animal abusers in various ways.

In October 2023, Sindre was sentenced to forensic psychiatric forced care. The verdict refers to prosecution for actions in 2021, against the former fur farmer Niklas Pettersson. Sindre denies the alleged crime. Sindre was also sentenced to pay SEK 10,000 in damages to Niklas. The sentence was appealed, but later in 2023 The Court of Appeal upheld the verdict. If Sindre had not been sentenced to forensic psychiatric care, his prison sentence would have been only four months.

Sindre was detained immediately after the trial, on the ninth of October, and has since been imprisoned without an end date. A horrible sentence!

SABOTAGING HUNTS: JANUARY ROUND UP

The main hunting season has passed the half-way point and many are starting to feel it drag on. But groups remain active. Some have even visited two hunts in one day, as seen by Glasgow Hunt Sabs and, separately, Staffordshire Hunt Sabs. Though there was plenty of success with disrupting the efforts to kill wildlife, some sabotage groups were on the receiving end of violence. Northants Hunt Sabs were attacked two weeks in a row and then had their windscreen smashed the following week, all during meets of the Cottesmore Hunt. In a statement, they claimed this was a result of continued pressure put on the hunt that they described as ‘wounded’. Behaviour such as this is a sure sign of desperation and has been carried out in a similar way by many hunts that have folded in the past. They later stated; ‘no matter what they throw at us they should always expect us’.

South Coast Hunt Sabs were also assaulted and had a vehicle smashed on New Year’s by the South Down & Eridge with East Sussex & Romney Marsh, who recently amalgamated. Historically, both of these hunts have a reputation for violence and is likely to continue. Be this as it may, the development is big news. They are also advertising for a new huntsman, which suggests things aren’t going well. Last year saw an amalgamation in Kent, resulting in the large county only have one fox hunt left. With both of these developments in mind, this means that hunt sabotage groups in the South East of England now have fewer to contend with, giving them the opportunity to concentrate efforts and shut down those left remaining for good.

It was reported that, despite the best efforts of Plymouth and West Devon Hunt Sabs, The Lamerton Hunt killed a fox whilst hunting Dartmoor National Park. The actions of the hunt just a week earlier resulted in the death of two hounds who were run over on a public road. Like wildlife, hounds are treated as a commodity with little to no regard for their safety or wellbeing. As hunts continue to breed thousands of hounds a year, they subsequently create more life that is subject to suffering. An end to hunting not only means less suffering for wildlife, but also an end to an animal industry.

In December, North Dorset Hunt Sabs used a drone to capture video footage of the Blackmore & Sparkford Vale hunting and killing a fox, which was later broadcast on national TV on Channel 4 News in January. This evidence, aided by receiving mainstream coverage, has forced the governing body of fox hunting to suspend the hunt. Though this response by the governing body is purely to save face, the hunt is unable to continue for the foreseeable future which is undoubtably good for local wildlife but also means that the hunt will take a financial hit from the lack of income generated by mounted hunt supporters who pay to participate. This is one example of how utilising opportunities to show the realities of hunting through mainstream media has played an important part in sustaining public outrage and maintaining pressure against individual hunts as well as hunting in general.

Drones has become more of a regular piece equipment in the sabotaging toolkit, as seen by Cumbria and Lancashire Hunt Sabs who focus their efforts on fell packs; non-mounted fox hunts. With having to operate in challenging vast rugged terrain, drones help to locate and gather evidence of hunts who are increasingly having to rely on trespassing to hunt. It was reported that this includes land owned by the National Trust, Forestry England, Lake District National Park Authority, United Utilities, Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Woodland Trust, and Butterfly Conservation, as well as areas that have status of being a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The sabotage group also state that a growing network of landowners has formed to tackle hunt trespass on their land, adding pressure from the local community against a form of hunting that is already depleting in support. Pressure from local and large landowners could be enough to cause for dwindling hunts to disband. Sabotage helps to make that happen sooner.

The intensive badger cull may have finished months ago but supplementary culling has continued. Though shooting free roaming badgers at night continued until February, regulations stipulate that cage-trapping should cease on the 1st December. Be that as it may, some involved in culling leave their killing mechanisms laying around. Severn Vale Hunt Sabs came across some and made sure they can no longer trap again, and reaffirms the importance of checking up on badger setts, especially that have previously been targeted. Northamptonshire Badger Group, for example, have been busy checking setts and used this to train others, which emboldens locals to take action where necessary and doubles up as a wholesome activity in appreciating the activity of wildlife.

NO LIFE LIKE THE WILD

CALVES RELEASED FROM THE HUTCHES.

Autumn 2023, Bavaria Germany. (Delayed report)

[editor’s note: image unrelated to the report]

Received anonymously via email:

“During the night we visited a local dairy farm. In front of the building in which the enslaved mothercows are held, there were the calf boxes. The very little calves were kept alone in one box. The bigger ones were kept in a group of four. We started opening the boxes. We opened about 8 boxes. As soon as we opened the box of the bigger ones, three calves ran out right away and started playing with each other. We started our way home into the night. The sky were full of stars, but the view of this beautiful night sky was not as beautiful as what we would witness next.

At first we just heard a undefiniable sound, just some feet away from us. Looking around we spotted the three calves running over grass , into the fields, like they were following us. Soon they dissapeared in the darkness. We hope they had an amazing night and run far away. But unfortunately they will be caught again very likely. Thats why we need everyone to help destroy all animal abusing industries. This was just a small sabotage of a small dairy farm. But if this small action, that just takes a few minutes , will be carried out systematicaley , from activist everywhere, where animals are kept in cages/boxes, it will effectively disrupt the dairy industry. Please join us and visit your local dairy farms and open every calf box and in the best case also destroy them all.

We did this action three times within some weeks at the same dairy farm.

Until every cage and calf box is empy!!! :D”

ACTIVISTS TOSS RED PAINT AND SPRAY PAINT MURDER AT A MCDONALDS.

January, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Received anonymously via email:

“A new McDonald’s has opened in Copenhagen in December, and since then they have been the target of many protests and disruptions. They have also faced more direct consequences of their murderous actions, as documented in this material.

This video shows three different occasions where activists toss red paint on their store and spray paint “murder” and “meat is murder” on their windows.

Animal abusers will have no rest. It doesn’t matter if it is a small butcher or a massive murder chain like McDonald’s, none of them should ever feel safe. Not until they stop the exploitation.”

THE ALF LIBERATES FIVE CHICKENS FROM A MEAT FARM.

January, Bavaria Germany.

Received anonymously via email:

“In one cold night we visited a big factory farm that helds about a hundred thousand chickens for the meat industry, seperated in several barns. All the doors were locked, but we know theres always a way in. We discovered small openings in the wall, probalbly for ventilation. The openings had plastic covering. We just stripped them away and there was one small hole in the wall now.

One of us climbed through it and landed between thousands of small chicks. Without hesitating, the person started handing the chicks through the hole. After 4 chicks were in the transportation box, the person noticed one chick that tried to, but couldnt run away anymore. The person couldnt resist taking it with us, so it was also handed to the person packing the chicks in the transportation box. Before this libeartion, we checked the farm out and found trashcans full of dead chicks next to the farm. We didnt want the last one of the chicks end up in one of these.

So with 5 chicks we left the farm and dissapeared in the forests. The next day we brought the chicks to their new home where they can live out their life in freedom. Sadly the one chick that couldnt get up in the farm died after a few days. We are happy though, that it died in a caring home and did not end up in a fucking trashcan. We are happy that the other ones can now enjoy their freedom and that they wont end up in a slaughterhouse or trashcan.

Never hesitate to liberate. There is always a way in these torture chambers to get the animals out of there. Through axe, crowbar or drill the ALF is coming through your walls.

Compassion and Love will defeat all evil.”

THE ANIMAL LIBERATION FRONT SMASHES WINDOWS AT DUCK MURDERING POLITICIAN JANCINTA ALLAN’S OFFICE.

30th January, Victoria Australia.

Received anonymously via email:

“Last year the state of Victoria in so-called Australia held a public inquiry into duck shooting. The results of that inquiry saw a recommendation to ban duck shooting in Victoria given a majority vote for the ban. On the 29/01/2024, Jacinta Allan went against her own party’s recommendation and has allowed this cowardice “sport” to go ahead. Following the decision, Jacinta Allan went into hiding and has not yet made a statement. Just some little info on Jacinta, she personally supports duck shooting and her husband Yorick Piper, has been seen in photographs with Field and Game representatives.

Fortunately, Jacinta Allan cannot hide from the A.L.F and we are here to show her just what happens when you let personal factors influence political decisions that go against the people’s wishes. We adhered to passive techniques in our fight for the native waterbirds that have been slaughtered over the years to respect the course of this inquiry, but that will no longer be the case.

This time it’s personal.

Hunters and their political affiliates will be hunted.

We acknowledge that this action took place on the land of the Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung people. We stand in solidarity with First Nations people in their fight against colonialism.

Jacinta’s office is located at 140 Mollison Street, Bendigo East. Feel free to pay her a visit
